My Experience in Writing Essays in Grade 7 Unit 4
Struggle and Improvement in Writing
During my seventh-grade language arts class, we focused on essay writing in Unit 4. At first, I struggled with organizing my thoughts and creating a strong thesis statement. However, with the help of my teacher and peers, I was able to improve my writing skills.
One of the biggest improvements I made was in my ability to brainstorm and create an outline before writing. This allowed me to organize my thoughts and create a clear structure for my essay. I also learned the importance of having a strong thesis statement, which sets the tone for the entire essay.
The Importance of Revision
Another important aspect of essay writing that I learned in Unit 4 was the importance of revision. In the past, I used to think that writing an essay meant finishing it in one draft. However, I quickly realized that my first draft was never perfect, and that I needed to revise and edit my work.
I learned how to revise for clarity, coherence, and consistency. By doing so, my essay became more organized and impactful. I also discovered that getting feedback from my teacher and classmates helped me to identify areas that needed improvement.
Overall, Unit 4 was a challenging but rewarding experience for me. I learned how to organize my thoughts, create a strong thesis statement, and revise my work for clarity and impact. These skills will not only help me in my future language arts classes, but also in other areas such as college and my future career.
